The art of Living Freely

Feeling worn out, is not a fun experience. It drains the very essence of who you are. And yet often the most draining thing in life is religion. Religions asks you to jump through a set of pre described hoops which turn out to be rules that you try to live up to. This finally has the opposite effect and drains you out.

Jesus never promised religion but rather a way of life that would lift life’s burdens from you and stop restraining you and make you free.

A way that would bring LIFE rather than death.

A way that would bring Freedom rather than captivity.

Jesus described His way in Matthew 11:28-30

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

What are you living for? Make a decision to join Jesus today. To start exploring and discovering this way which he offers to everyone including you.

Start discovering with Jesus what it means to live life freely and lightly.

What Experience!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see an angel? What would the angel look like? How would it feel? What would it sound like? How would it move?

How would you respond to meeting an angel? Scared, surprised, shocked, maybe you would be left with questions? Why appear to me? What do you want with me?

Angels are a reality according to God. Some people are privileged to meet them and others miss out. Zachariah, Mary, Elisabeth and some shepherds all had an encounter with God’s angel (Luke 1-2). As I read these people’s story, one thing I see, after their experience with God’s angel, they wanted to tell everyone about their God experience.

You may never have an angel experience but you can have a God experience. An experience with God that awakes your soul and spirit just like it did 2000 years ago.

Do you have the same level of excitement about meeting God as those 2000 years ago? God is looking for people who are so excited that they cannot contain what he has done in there life. Will you be one of them?

That Inner Desire

What is the underlying desire that drives you?

Whatever your desire is, it will have a profound effect on your life. It will be the very thing that drives you in so much of your life. Many people have no idea what  motivates them. They are often too afraid to face their inner motivation. Whatever desire is stronger in you will be the desire that you put the greatest    emphasis on in your life.

Proverbs 1:7 tells us that “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of all knowledge”

Fear gives us a healthy respect of God. When we have a healthy fear of God it motivates us to get a better view of what God expects for us and from us.

God had a primary desire and motivation. God’s desire was for you to know Him. The desire was so strong in God that He sent Jesus to fulfill his plan and show you His love.

How much fear of God do you have?

How much do you want to please Him?

How great is your desire for God and His Kingdom in your Life?

What you desire is it really worth possessing?

Church – who understands it?

Why do you go to church? That is the question I have been asked on many occasions. Many people ask the question with the answer already in their mind.
They believe the church is a building. The church is more than a building. Many believers play church every Sunday, they walk in the doors but don’t engage with other believers at any other times. The church is the people. Yet many people, even believers don’t understand this significance.

1. The church = YOU.
The church is not a building but a people. YOU, YES You are Jesus’ Church.

2. The Church is a Family
A family that is God’s Holy people. A family where the strong are called to carry the weak. To help them become strong in their journey with God. A family that meets together, to celebrate, to teach, to pray and basically do life together.

3. The Church has a Mission
The mission of the church is to reach people who don’t know Jesus. To be Jesus to others so that they encounter and experience Jesus for themselves. This is God’s call to you.

The church has a purpose yet many don’t live out that purpose. You waste the opportunity to be God’s real and living church. United by Faith, Changed by Hope, and transformed by Gods Love.

Will you stop playing Church and start being the church that God wants?

The Moral Question

I often do the wrong thing. When i do the wrong think a few things happen, firstly it is painful, secondly I feel guilty and thirdly my first response is “I will have to do better, next time.” I think many people have the same response. Maybe you think the same thing when you do the wrong thing “I’ll have to do better next time.”

There’s only one problem and that is when next time comes and I make a mistake again, maybe not the same mistake but still a mistake.

Many of us live in this cycle of trying to do better or be better. Yet the funny part is we may not say these words but many of us think like this. We are actually trying to be better. 1. We need to understand, that None of us can be better. 2. Sin or self sufficiency is something that is in us. We cannot get rid of it ourselves.

When you think “I will do better next time” it is called Moralism. Moralism is when i try harder to be better and deal with what I have done wrong. Moralism is the sin of our generation, it’s like we are trying to save ourselves.

The only way to overcome moralism is to come to Jesus and acknowledge that i can’t be better, do better or live better. I hand my sin over to Jesus and leave it with Jesus.

Next time you think “I’ll have to do better” just stop and come to Jesus as you are.
